Option Trading - Some Things To Know

by David Baxwell

During our current economic crisis, most of us are scared to lose money by investing in the stock market. Although it is risky, and stock prices seem to ride a rollercoaster, the possibility is there to make investments that earn significant returns. The most lucrative choice is to invest in stock options trading, rather than your typical stocks.

Option trading is different from your traditional stock investments, in that you are not actually buying stock on an exchange, but rather you are purchasing the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a stock at an agreed upon price at a point in time in the future. You can either buy a call option, which gives you the right to buy the stock, or the put option which gives you the right to sell it.

The reason for the importance of the matter to be discussed may not be known to many people but let us analyze this example. The decline in the value of Stock XYZ is felt, and it is presently going at a rate of $10 per share. The put option for 1,000 shares in one month time at the current value of $10 is open for you. After a lapse of 30 days, if the share declines to $8, the right to sell it for $19 per share is vested on you in spite of its decline to $8, which will fetch you $2,000 less the premium charges for going for the option.

There are several variables that you and the buyer need to agree upon before entering into a contract for option trading. Things like whether the option would be in American style or the European style. Because in European style, the option can be exercised only on the date of expiration, but whereas in the American Style, you have the freedom to exercise the option anytime, even before the expiration date. Additionally, other variables like the price, stock being used, and whether the option would be put or call should be agreed upon.

There are many different types of strategies that you can use when buying option trading. For example, there are even people times when it is appropriate to purchase both a call and a put option, if you think the stock will be volatile in the future, but are not sure if it will move up or down.

Finally, it is important to know just what stock to put an option on. A good way of doing this is to look at the MACD indicator, which is used to help calculate trends of a stock price. While it is not an absolute scientific indicator, it will assist you in making informed decisions for what kind of option to purchase for a given stock. It is important to remember that while option trading is not without risks, it requires less investment than stock trading, and can offer greater rewards.

During our current economic crisis, most of us are scared to lose money by investing in the stock market. Although it is risky, and stock prices seem to ride an adventure wheel, the possibility is there to make investments that earn significant returns. The most lucrative choice is to invest in stock options trading, rather than your typical stocks. Regular stock investments and option trading are two different styles of investment. A good way of doing this is to look at the MACD indicator, which is used to help calculate trends of a stock price.
